Within the framework of the Bejing Design Week, the interactive installation ‘IIIIII’ was successfully planned and implemented. The annual Bejing Design Week does not only provide a generous overview over current events and movements in the design world, but also promotes the exchange between participating science institutions and the industry. In cooperation with the city of Beijing, the ministry of education, the ministry of science and technology and the culture ministry, a platform for the exchange of ground-breaking ideas is thus being created annually.
‘IIIIII’ opens up a new dimension of perception of space. This project gives its users a transformational experience. Using 3D tracking cameras and hologram projections, the room interacts with the visitors and thus makes the user a part of the installation. The holographic wiremap is featured at the centre of the installation surrounded by an organic structure partially shielding it from the outside. The placement and the content projected on the surfaces not only give the space an organic touch, but almost make it come alive, making the industrial materials appear to vanish. The inside of the installation can be reached via a narrow opening, and the user thus finds oneself submerged in a seemingly living structure.
